Phoenix Rises: My Nepenthe on Display

IMG_4510_fulldisplay

The fine ladies at the Nepenthe Phoenix Shop got down to business this week and made one fabulous window display featuring My Nepenthe book and other hand-made goods from family members: paintings by my aunt Holly, one by cousin Erin (lemons with vase), wall fabric and knitware by my uncle Kaffe, round floor rug by aunt Dorcas, and flannel baby blankets (on the chair) that come with matching, crocheted hats by my mother, Kim.  It looks fabulous, so rich and colorful and a full Fassett love-fest of sorts, a true celebration of our family’s creative heritage.

If you are in town, head into the shop for a peek and window into the world we all grew up in. Paintings and other items are all for sale. Signed books are shelved to the right of the display and are flying out the door. Get yours now by ordering here, or make sure to pick yours up in person before they sell out.

My Nepenthe Launch party is next Saturday, October 24th.

There will be a book signing from 1-3 at the Phoenix Shop and a fiesta and reception from 4-6 on Nepenthe’s main terrace, followed by belly dancing. As the Monterey Herald reported, that’s “So Big Sur.” And why not?

Come join the fray–it should be a fantastic day and celebration of more than just my book, but of the creative legacy that is Nepenthe and all of you that have passed through its doors at one time or another and made it what it is today.  I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Thank you to Tina Snow and Cay Fisher at the Phoenix for all their work on this display.

  1. What a beautiful arrangement, showing off the fabulous artistic gifts given to your family. Wish that John and I could come. His mother just passed away, and I’ve written about her as a tribute in my blog. Please check it out. Love you Nani, and again, congratulations on your fine addition to the Fassett Family Portfolio!!
