The dances of NO SORROW performed by Fassett grandchildren for my book release party at Nepenthe, October 24, 2009. In order: My daughter Nicoya wearing Isis wings (in all gold, 4th generation), my sister Sara in turquoise, my cousin Holly in peacock green, and my little niece Chama in pink.

All photos taken by my 14 year old nephew Sumner Healey (Sara’s son), great grandson of anthropologist–explorer Giles Healey, who was captured for Life magazine (1959) around Nepenthe’s bar with novelist Henry Miller, poet Eric Barker, and my grandfather Bill Fassett (Sumner’s other great-grandfather), and reprinted in my book.

See more excellent photos of the dancing and my release party by Monterey photographer and onetime Nepenthe employee, Patrice Ward, here.
