The Real Cover Story

And My Nepenthe really did run off to the printer yesterday. Here’s the cover–front and back with interior flaps–designed by my good friend Lisa Berman. What a relief (for Lisa especially–she’s elated!) We’re going to have margaritas now. More than one, in fact. Now just can ‘t wait to see the proofs, and then the book in my very, pleasantly worked, kitchen hands–stay tuned for a November release, readings, wine events, book signings, art shows, and more. Got any ideas? Send my way.
And by the way, that’s me on the back cover as a young girl with my grandmother, Madeleine “Lolly” Fassett of Nepenthe. The fabric covering the spine is by my uncle Kaffe Fassett, and the blue on the flaps is what we are calling “menu blue” after Nepenthe’s original menu. Cover image by premier landscape photographer, Kodiak Greenwood who grew up in Big Sur and around Nepenthe’s table (his mother was the bar manager).

Congratulations, Nani. It’s a gorgeous cover. Let’s go out and celebrate!
