Nepenthe will host a 60th anniversary party on Friday, April 24th, 2009 that will include a family get together, photoshoot, luncheon and various festivities for guests and friends. The day will feature bellydancing by my sister Sara–a vibrant performer–along with a debut by my daughter Nicoya; music by the Chicano Allstars; a cake cutting at 5:30 followed by more dancing, live jazz, and fire dancing by local girl, Rosalia Byrne, not to be missed. The menu will offer specials, like a Crab Louis salad served in the 50s and the Moscow Mule, a popular drink in its time, made with vodka and ginger beer, as well as other favorites served over the coarse of Nepenthe’s 60 years. Plan to spend the afternoon, bring the kids, or come later, and stay long into the evening.
